About Organisation

In 1949, after the original organisation was dissolved in Poland by the Communist regime, the Polish YMCA re-established itself in the UK with the very rare status of being a national movement in exile. It was an formal affiliate of the European Alliance of YMCAs and carried on a cautious approach to growth and, as the need for providing low-cost accommodation to veterans of WW II and Polish refugees diminished, the organisation continued and extended its work as a hub for social and community development of younger people, mostly children of veterans that had established themselves here after the war.

At the end of 2017 the charity transformed itself into a Charitable Incorporated Organisation and continues building on the now 70+ years’ of work for the Polish community in GB.
