What

Saturday morning non-contact boxing classes with Sweet Science Foundation are quickly becoming a favourite activity for young people looking to stay fit, build confidence or learn some new skills. These sessions are designed to be accessible to all, regardless of experience or skill level, offering a fantastic way for participants to improve their fitness while developing discipline and focus. The structured, yet fun, nature of the classes makes it an ideal environment for children and teens to challenge themselves in a positive and supportive way.

Today’s session was particularly focused on technique, helping the young boxers refine their basic moves, such as the jab and the straight backhand. Emphasis was placed on mastering the fundamentals, which are essential not only for boxing but for any physical activity that requires coordination and control. Through drills and targeted exercises, participants learned how to execute these moves with precision and the class ensured that everyone understood the balance between offense and defence.

One of the highlights of the session was the opportunity for each participant to step into the ring and try to land a punch on Coach Leroy. As a seasoned coach and role model, Leroy’s presence in the ring is always both motivating and educational. Trying to land a punch on their coach added an extra layer of fun to the class, making it an enjoyable start to the weekend.

Overall, Sweet Science Foundation’s Saturday class provides a great mix of physical fitness, skill development and positive energy. It’s more than just a workout, it’s a chance for young people to develop resilience, teamwork and self-belief in a safe and encouraging environment – making it an ideal way to kick off the weekend and set a positive tone for the week ahead.
