What
Sporting Souls, winner of the Mind Wellbeing Sporting Equals Award 2026, is a high impact programme for young people that the system has too often given up on. For those who would never sit down in a therapy room, we bring the therapy to them through sport, movement, and the kind of trust that only builds when someone shows up for you consistently.
We combine professional MMA coaching with qualified clinical therapy, not because sport is a distraction, but because for some young people it is the only door that opens. For those facing exploitation, violence, or serious mental health challenges, sport becomes the tool that builds the trust, safety, and strength needed to tackle what lies beneath.
For young people who have never felt safe enough to speak, movement becomes the first language of healing. Sport is not a distraction from their pain, it is the very thing that helps them begin to work through it. Healing doesn't have to look like therapy, but it can still be life changing.
