MathsMakers Trustee
MathsMakers is seeking to appoint one or two trustees to our Board of Directors, effective February 2024.
MathsMakers is a vibrant education charity that partners with schools to deliver maths intervention programmes. Since 2014, we have developed a successful track record in helping children aged 10-16 years gain confidence in their maths learning and improve their attainment. We work mostly with disadvantaged students including those with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) and EAL (English as an Additional Language). Our objective is to narrow the attainment gap for these students compared to their peers, and help all to achieve their potential. We would love to hear from you if you share our vision.
We are looking for committed and motivated individuals with a background in education or the third sector. We are seeking to diversify our Board and would particularly welcome expressions of interest from those with experience in working with disadvantaged communities. We would also love to hear from you if you can help with fundraising and developing our MathsMakers public profile. In 2024, MathsMakers will celebrate 10 years of working with schools to help children achieve their potential in maths. We are proud of our achievements to date and ambitious in our aims to develop further in the years ahead.
The role of the Trustee is voluntary and we ask all our Trustees to contribute actively to the Board, using their skills and experience to give strategic direction, evaluate performance, and ensure the organisation is run efficiently and effectively. We are a friendly, inclusive and dedicated team.
Trustees are asked to make the following commitments:
Attend up to seven Board meetings per year. All meetings except one (usually in November) are online,
Contribute advice and support on an ad hoc basis,
Attend events and promote the work of the charity,
View online recordings, or visit in person, MathsMakers sessions twice a year.
All travel and out-of-pocket expenses will be paid.
MathsMakers is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff, volunteers and trustees to share this commitment. Applicants will be subject to a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.
By becoming a Trustee of MathsMakers you will play an important role in improving and enhancing the attainment of the children we support and helping them to reach their potential.
